Due in part to the aging population of the US and other Western countries, there is a strong global need to develop new treatments and approaches for CNS disorders.
Our Research Approach
Impax Pharmaceuticals is focused on meeting unmet needs in CNS, especially in the area of movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease (PD), Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), spasticity and epilepsy. By applying our technical formulation and drug development expertise to improve on CNS existing therapies, we aim to introduce the next-generation CNS drugs with enhanced efficacy, safety and patient convenience. Parkinson’s disease is a key focus at Impax Pharmaceuticals. There have been multiple attempts to improve on the current standard therapy, levodopa, with limited success. Impax Pharmaceuticals aims to improve not only on the efficacy of this compound, but also its dosing and convenience – and is in an advanced stage of clinical research in this area.
